The Green Revolution in Jawor
The Jawor commune is one of 19 local governments in the country that received funding for the so-called activities related to adaptation to climate change. Co-financing from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the state budget amounts to PLN 4 558 907.60, the value of the entire project is PLN 5 363 420.72. Sycamore is waiting for the Green Revolution. And we are waiting for the signing of the grant agreement.
The project is called “Adaptation to climate change through the construction of green and blue infrastructure in the Jawor Commune”. It assumes a number of activities, primarily through the implementation of investments in the field of green and blue infrastructure and educational and information activities, which are to increase the city’s resilience to negative phenomena resulting from climate change – such as heavy rainfall, flooding, flooding, but also high temperatures, which is felt particularly strongly in cities etc.
What does this mean in practice?
More green areas, plantings, rest-friendly infrastructure, the so-called green stops or rain gardens. In total, 12 investment tasks and educational activities are planned.

- Revitalization of the greenery of the City Park
- Reconstruction of the pedestrian route from ul. Wolności Square to ul. J. Dąbrowski
- Revitalization of greenery in the estate interior – ul. Freedom Square
- Revitalization of greenery at the “Green Bus Stop” at ul. J. Dąbrowski
- Restoration of greenery by building a rain garden and roofing at the market place at ul. Zamkowa 2
- Renovation of green areas and construction of green terraces at the marketplace parking lot at ul. Zamkowa.
- Revitalization of green areas by installing a wooden barrier in the interior of the estate at ul. Zamkowa.
- Renovation of green areas at ul. Grunwaldzka, Roosevelt, Plac Wolności – construction of a rain garden
- The renewal of greenery in the square at ul. Grunwaldzka
- Renovation of green areas “Green barrier” at ul. Kościelna
- Construction of green areas at Rynek I street.
And, of course, educational workshops and information campaigns addressed to the inhabitants – so that each of the inhabitants of Jaworzno could contribute to the improvement of the local environment.
– Climate change affects us more and more, therefore, also as local government officials, we want to take measures to limit their negative effects. This project will certainly contribute to it – says Emilian Bera, mayor of Jawor. – We are starting the Green Revolution, wherever greenery is lacking, it will appear there not only to give rest and relaxation to residents, but also to protect against heat and excessive rainfall.
